Mayor of New Braunfels Signs Disaster Declaration in Wake of Flooding

On the heels of heavy rain and major flooding, New Braunfels Mayor Barron Casteel has signed a Declaration of Disaster, which is attached.

As of this release, here are the current river conditions:

COMAL RIVER (at Hinman Island): Flood stage is 11ft. Currently at 20.3ft and rising. Expected to crest at 25.5ft around 4pm today.

GUADALUPE (Above Comal River): Flood Stage is 7ft. Currently at 22.5ft. Expected to crest at 25.5ft. around 2pm today.

GUADALUPE (Below Comal River): Flood Stage is 13ft. Currently at 20.3ft, expected to crest at 25.5ft around 2:30pm today.

The National Weather Service is forecasting the possibility of more moderate to heavy rain this afternoon, evening, and overnight. Residents are encouraged to monitor any of the City of New Braunfels’ Facebook pages (including NBPD, NBFD, and Parks Department) for further updates. Drivers are asked to stay off local roads, if at all possible.
