The Oral History Training Workshop is designed for people to learn how to conduct and record oral histories pertaining to World War II. Although the workshop will be set within a World War II context, attendees will be able to use the training for whatever oral history project that interests them.

This workshop is part of the Texas Historical Commission's Here and There: Recollections of Texas in World War II oral history training workshop series, which highlights the real places telling the real stories of Texas’ involvement in the military. This program honors and preserves the memories of Texans who served in the armed forces during World War II and the contributions made on the home front.

Thru the Chute Boat Race


Thru the Chute New Braunfels tubingThe Thru the Chute Boat Race is a cardboard boat race held annually at the New Braunfels City Tube Chute. Competitors launch their handmade vessels through the Chute as spectators cheer them on. Between races, guests are encouraged to participate in educational and imaginative activities hosted by event partners on the banks of the Comal River at the City Tube Chute.

Interested in Participating?
Teams must pre-register to compete in this hilarious and educational event. There are two different classes this year; please sign up for the Novice or Expert class.

Early Registration Fee: $30 per team on or before March 28th
Late Registration Fee: $45 per team after March 28th

Throughout the year, eleven wineries and their winemakers are showcased on the patio and garden of this popular tasting room in Gruene Historic District. Complimentary tastings will be offered of the craft beer and three of the wineries newest releases, top-selling and hardest to find wines. This a great opportunity to learn direct from these craftsmen, engage with other visitors interested in wine and beer and enjoy the natural surroundings and all the other offerings of Gruene Historic District.
