Since 1967, the New Braunfels Downtown Association, Inc. has served the community and endeavored to preserve and enhance the Heart of New Braunfels...our Downtown. Initially known as the New Braunfels Merchants Association, then the Downtown Association of New Braunfels, in 1999 the Association was formally incorporated to become the New Braunfels Downtown Association, Inc. Through the years the association has grown from a membership of 12 committed merchants to over 100 members. Our membership includes a variety of people who represent retailers, service professionals, government and financial groups, building owners and caring individuals. Those who have a keen interest in the continued growth, development, and historical preservation of our Downtown are encouraged to make an investment of their time, talents and monies. For over 35 years members of the Association have initiated and supported numerous programs to foster beautification, economic growth and prosperity in Downtown New Braunfels, including: the Heritage Walk around the Plaza; installation of sidewalks, antique lighting, benches and trees throughout Downtown; the Christmas Tree Lighting and Santa's Arrival on the Plaza; Wassailfest and Fifth Saturday celebrations; educational seminars and informative monthly membership meetings; and a new website. Affordable advertising specials are developed by working with area media representatives. Our Membership, Advertising, Publicity and Special Events committees give each member of the Downtown Association the opportunity to invest in Downtown New Braunfels and to leverage our funds to help each other. The Downtown Association is a major supporter and host to several annual community events, including Festtage, Plaza Tree Lighting and Wassailfest. Members of the New Braunfels Downtown Association, Inc. are also members of the Texas Downtown Association. The state organization assists members by communicating with city, county, state and federal representatives concerning issues that affect business and impact the downtowns of America. In 1997, the New Braunfels Downtown Association, Inc. was chosen as the first small city to host the Downtown Association Annual Conference. Members of the New Braunfels Downtown Association, Inc. are members of several state committees and boards, giving good representation on behalf of Downtown New Braunfels. Monthly meetings are held the first Tuesday of each month at a variety of locations. Times vary, as do the speakers and their topics. Our Mission Statement The purpose of this organization is to enhance the natural beauty and to promote the economic development of the downtown area of New Braunfels, Texas by providing educational and training opportunities to its members.
